In our Weekly Music Poll last week we asked you to pick your favorite sixties British band. The Beatles, The Kinks, and The Who each got a pair of votes, while The Rolling Stones and "other" each got one vote.

This week we ask you to pick an American rock band from the sixties. We found it very hard to narrow it down to a list of four bands plus an "other" choice; there were so many great American bands in the sixties. Yet there wasn't the Beatles - Stones - Who hierarchy like in British rock. So we'll give you five bands and ask you to pick one, recognizing that we may not have listed your favorite. The choices are: The Beach Boys, The Byrds, Creedence Clearwater Revival, The Doors, and The Velvet Underground. We love 'em all, of course.

Musicians celebrating birthdays this week - August 26 through September 1 - are Branford Marsalis, Shirley Manson, Daryl Dragon, Glen Matlock, Bob Nastanovich, Me'Shell NdegeOcello, Van Morrison, Gina Schock, Glenn Tillbrook, Barry Gibb, and Bruce Foxton. Happy Birthday, y'all! Thanks for the music!
